Matthew Skelton
Matthew Skelton was born in the UK but spent most of his childhood in Edmonton, Alberta. He started writing while working as a teaching assistant at the University of Mainz and continued when he came back to Oxford to work as a research assistant. In 2002 he won Richard and Judy's short story competition. Cirrus Flux is his second novel.
Joe Pernice
Joe Pernice began his recording career in the mid-1990’s with the Scud Mountain Boys, in Northampton, Massachusetts. They released two records before signing to Seattle's Sub Pop Records in 1996 and releasing Massachusetts, along with The Early Year, a compilation of the two pre-Sub Pop recordings. In 1997, he disbanded the Scuds Mountan Boys to form The Pernice Brothers, and released their debut album Overcome By Happiness. While with the Sub Pop label Pernice also recorded under his own name, issuing the album Big Tobacco in 1999, and as Chappaquiddick Skyline, who issued their sole self-titled album in 2000.
Donna Leon
A New Yorker of Irish/Spanish descent, Donna Leon first went to Italy in 1965, returning regularly over the next decade or so while pursuing a career as an academic in the States and then later in Iran, China and finally Saudi Arabia. It was after a period in Saudi Arabia, which she found ‘damaging physically and spiritually’ that Donna decided to move to Venice, where she has now lived for over twenty years.
Stephen Green
Stephen Green is currently Chairman of HSBC, following his time as CEO from 2003 - 2006. He has worked with HSBC since 1982 and has been an ordained priest in the Church of England since 1988. Chairman of the British Banker's Association, he is also Chair of the Prime Minister's Business Council for Britain and a Trustee of the British Museum. A well known and prominent figure in international business and media, he has spoken widely on integrity and sustainability in business and on the value of values.
Sean Cullen
Comedian Seán Cullen was a member of the highly influential musical comedy troupe Corky and the Juice Pigs until 1998. His stage and screen credits include CBC’s Seán Cullen Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Showcase series Slings and Arrows, and the Toronto stage production of The Producers. He is the winner of two Gemini Awards.
Craig Nelson
Craig Nelson is the author of four previous books, including The First Heroes and Let's Get Lost. His writings have appeared in Salon, The New England Review, Blender, Genre, and a host of other publications. He was an editor at HarperCollins, Hyperion, and Random House for almost twenty years and has been profiled by Variety, Interview, Manhattan, Inc., and Time Out.
Ellen Ruppel Shell
Ellen Ruppel Shell is a correspondent for the Atlantic Monthly, and has written for The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, National Geographic, Time, Discover, Seed, and dozens of other national publications. She is the author, most recently, of The Hungry Gene, which was published in six languages, and is Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Knight Center for Science and Medical Journalism at Boston University.
James Lovelock
James Lovelock is the author of more than 200 scientific papers and the originator of the Gaia Hypothesis (now Gaia Theory). He has written three books on the subject: Gaia: a new look at life on Earth; The Ages of Gaia; Gaia: the practical science of planetary medicine; and an autobiography, Homage to Gaia. He has received many honorary degrees as well as being made Companion of Honour by the Queen in 2003. He has held posts at numerous universities both in the UK and the US and since 1994 has been an Honorary Visiting Fellow of Green College, University of Oxford.
