Lawrence Martin is the author of Chrétien: The Will to Win, the first volume of his biography of the prime minister, and of eight other books, including The Presidents and the Prime Ministers and Breaking with History: The Gorbachev Revolution. Raised in Hamilton and educated at McMaster and Harvard, Martin’s distinguished career has seen him serve as Montreal, Moscow, and Washington correspondent for The Globe and Mail, as an Ottawa-based national affairs columnist, and as a frequent television and radio commentator. While researching books, he writes a weekly column for The Globe on the political affairs of the nation.
